📸 PP: Preston Pictured – an open-call crowdfunded outdoor photography project for everyone 🏙

We’re launching a Crowdfunder to transform the boarded-up BHS building in Preston into a bold, street-facing photographic exhibition — and we want your help to make it happen.

Preston already has a diverse and thriving photographic community. From Preston Photographic Society, founded in 1905, to a number of individual documentary and art photographers, the city has a huge photographic heritage.

It was also the home of the first two Lancashire Photography Festivals which saw hundreds of images installed across multiple outdoor locations across the city, and included several photo workshops, photo walks, documentary photography projects and the world’s first photography protest parade.

And the city will continue its building on its photographic legacy with PP: Preston Photographed.

This project will feature approximately 20 large-scale A0 photographic prints taken by the people of Preston. Anyone with a camera or a phone can submit images and take part. Whether it’s a quiet street at dawn, a bustling market scene, a slice of city life, an aerial drone shot or a personal moment in the toilets at Detroit bar, we want to celebrate how you see Preston.

The more unique and eye-catching the image is, the more chance it has of being selected. This means that great documentary photography could be picked, but a posed group shot of you and your mates drunk in a bar will probably not be chosen.

But… before the open call comes the crowdfunder. Printing images is not cheap. Prices have risen massively in the past three years. So we need your help to make this project possible.

Once the fundraiser is successful, the call out will be published.
