Some of the feedback from Lancashire Fringe Festival 2024.
Lydia Baines: He Said, She Said
This show brought a demographic to The Ferret that might not know of its existences – half the audience was made up of Preston College students – who stayed for show two as well. I hope this will help them to feel welcome in the venue in future.
Fantastic. Well written, well performed, gripping and great atmosphere in the venue Best piece of theatre I’ve seen in a long time.
Absolutely amazing, the set design was brilliantly thought out, the lighting and sound effects were so fitting. Dialogue was fantastic and perfectly colloquial. Would love to see more of Lydia’s work.
Sarah Green: Jo & Dave Have Moved
Fantastic. Brilliantly written and performed. Immersive and compelling story telling. Awesome performances.
While the intimate setting of The Ferret works well, this play deserves a larger stage to fully realize its potential. A bigger venue with more technical resources could enhance the spooky atmosphere and give the actors more space to breathe. Overall, Jo & Dave Have Moved is a delightfully crafted piece, with strong performances and an intriguing story that would truly shine on a grander scale.
Dark yet humorous. Endearing characters.
Louise Orwin: Famehungry
Oh my god! That was fantastic!
Absolutely incredible show. I feel so lucky to have a show like this in Preston!
Absolutely amazeballs, the show, performance was so interactive and showed me, as a grandmother, what young people in this generation are doing through such an energetic performance and a great way to end the Fringe. Definitely the best so far.
S Werd open mic hosted by Becca Sharples
Very natural host. I enjoyed every minute. A tour de force of different styles.
So amazing. Made me cry, made me laugh, loved it.
Nana Funk
Fantastic. Far exceeded expectations. One of the best shows I have ever seen in Preston. Really well structured and performed. Absolutely electric. Would love to see more like this.

Absolutely brilliant! So funny. This whole fringe festival has been excellent, can’t wait for next year, thanks so much.
Lancashire People’s Theatre
Interesting thought-provoking and put together very well, especially as there were four authors. Even better that they are free to attend and within everyone’s budget.
Wonderful really well put together… more like this, great to see Lancashire talent!
Rebekah Okpoti: Her Hair
Lovely performance full of expression.
Amazing work. Pipe organ music is so emotive. I found it haunting, unique, gothic. A truly outstanding piece of art.
Really enjoyed it and found the mix of music, poetry and dance interesting.
I really enjoyed being brought into a venue I haven’t been to before. We are really enjoying the city.
Crazy, wild, captivating, musical.

Henry Roberts: Close Enough To Touch
Unbelievable piece of acting, so good. So emotional and so insightful on a subject that was completely new to me. Excellent theatre.
Absolutely outstanding performance and writing. Surprised by the content. Had I known in advance I probably would not have attended but thoroughly enjoyed it and was immersed in the story.
I went not knowing a single thing. At first I had no idea where it was going but I enjoyed the journey. Very beautiful.
It was an amazing performance, loved every minute
Absolutely brilliant! One of the most moving one-person shows I’ve ever seen. The performer was incredible. Won’t forget this any time soon.
Aimee Williamson: Ballad of the Selkie
I loved it, it was a beautiful piece of art, I’ve never seen a dance show before but I loved it.
Beautiful, very tender. I don’t watch much (or any!) dance things, so this was a great opportunity to see something different.
Beautiful and captivating.
Fabulous show. Loved it!! Would see it again!
That was brilliant. Really, really good.
Aline Costa: In Bloom

Anthony Briscoe: Talentless Millennial Poet
Really well structured, consistently funny, colourful, refreshing and entertaining.
Fantastic. Entertaining, joyous and good blend of humour and depth.
The poem he did last about the tree was so moving! Loved the humour and wit… laughed and cried. What a brilliant thing for Preston to have this festival! Free too, so everyone can attend. Thank you!
Nathan Birkinshaw: Get a Proper Job
Very enjoyable. As an aspiring performer it was great to see a work in progress that already had a clear vision but also has room to grow and be altered.
Really good to see the starting blocks of a new show. It has really good potential – I loved the answer smash rounds J
Different and enjoyable. Didn’t know what to expect but I enjoyed a change and this certainly was.

Martha Pailing: Chat Shit, Get Hit
Great – really got caught up in where she was coming from. Fantastic energy, very tight. Really had us with her – along with her one her wavelength. Very brave and thoughtful. Good audience interaction – she is very commanding.
It made my shoulders ache because so much of it seemed relatable. I did need to go outside for a little bit. Good though!
Brilliant delivery, wonderful content, great sentiments.
She was very good. Well written and performed. Liked the audience interaction, clever, funny. Also liked the film footage of angry men.
Loved it! Amazing! Very funny clever. Honest. Raw.
Different, great to see something based on female anger! Felt like an Edinburgh Fringe performance.
Cheekykita: An Octpus, The Universe and Everything
Fabulous, funny, irreverent.
Sole Rebel
I absolutely loved the tap dance performances. Their energy was infectious – the smiling faces and those happy feet. At the end, we were encouraged to join in a group learning of basic tap moves. I loved this. Spoke with some of the girls and was really impressed by their warmth and inclusivity.
