Women Who Wank – first tour dates announced

We’re delighted to be working with exceptional performer Joanne Tremarco. And her first two performances of women Who Wank – her acclaimed hit show – are in Preston and Blackpool.

This improvsied show, full of tender moments and outrageous comedy, was word-of-mouth hit at Edinburgh Fringe. I was blown away when I saw it and have seen nothing like it since.

You can see it in Preston on Tues Mar 26 at the Stanley Arms (8pm). Tickets can be bought here.

And two days later (Thurs mar 28) in Blackpool at Bootleg Social. Tickets can be bought here.

Lancashire Evening Post on Lancashire Fringe Festival

The Lancashire Evening Post also wrote about us. This is the link to their online article.

Or, this is what they said:

A NEW performance arts festival, showcasing some of the country’s best live acts, is to launch in Preston next weekend.

Lancashire Fringe Festival is a unique event for stand-up comedians, improvisation acts and spoken word performers.

Several hit performers from the Edinburgh Fringe are booked in to entertain over Friday and Saturday nights (July 15 and 16) at the Ham and Jam Coffee Shop in Lancaster Road.

Organiser Garry Cook said: “The idea is to bring some of the greatest entertainment and comedy acts in the country to Lancashire, so people can see great performances and comedy on their doorstep. I’ve invited some of the best acts from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe festival to perform, plus several others who are expected to be huge hits this year.”

Liverpool-based performer Joanne Tremarco is bringing her brilliant and controversial improvised show to the city on the Friday.

On Saturday Juliette Burton , who had a sell-out run in Edinburgh last year, will perform her brand new show Decision Time which she is taking to Scotland later in the summer.

Lancashire Fringe Festival welcomes a performer who has had five-star reviews clinging to her for the past few years.

On Saturday July 16, Juliette Burton – who had a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last year with her multi-award-winning show ‘Look At Me’ – will preview her brand new show ‘Decision Time’ which she is taking to Scotland this summer.

Part performance, part documentary, ‘Decision Time’ is a critical self-examination of the decisions which Burton has made, and has yet to make, in her own life. Juliette’s performances have been described as “entertainment with real social purpose“ (Broadway Baby) and “smart, perceptive and genuinely moving” (The List).

Burton, a double winner of the Brighton Fringe Argus Angel Award, has won several five star ratings over the years. Reviewers hailed Look At Me as “powerful stuff” (Sunday Express), while the Daily Mirror declared that “Burton’s got huge talent and then some!”

Decision Time will be on at Ham & Jam Coffee Shop in Preston July 16 at approx 7.50pm. REMEMBER: the show is FREE to attend.

Lancashire Fringe Festival presents Joanne Tremarco’s Women Who Wank

Liverpool-based performer Joanne Tremarco brings her brilliant and controversial improvised performance show Women Who Wank to Preston on Friday, July 15, to launch Lancashire Fringe Festival.

Tremarco has received huge acclaim for the piece, a tender, hysterical, enlightening, witty and physical show which she has performed over 150 times around the world.

Reviews for her Edinburgh Fringe run described her show as “a genuinely remarkable piece of theatre. Tremarco is utterly captivating” and “Tremarco is brilliantly physically dynamic throughout, both facially and corporeally, creating a captivating magnetism”.

This is what I wrote about Woman Who Wank after seeing the show in Edinburgh (2015):

This one woman show of improvised theatre was as shocking for its warmth, humour and brutally tender moments as it was for its title.

Joanne Tremarco’s performance was beguiling from the moment she wandered into the landing of the decrepit building which housed her show to welcome in the audience. As 150-plus slightly uncomfortable filed into the room she chats, jokes and prods her audience, most of whom are blissfully unaware that the show has already started.

If ever there was a show which relied on the whole-hearted confidence of a single person to succeed, this is it. That the show is so good, so captivating and so funny is a tribute to the actress. Talk goes from the obvious to the more subtle side of relationships, with a huge dollop of audience participation adding to the nervous nature of the laughter. Fool Size Theatre have previous when it comes to human genitalia (The Fig Leaf Wars) so be in no doubt, they have put effort into this show.

Tremarco is as endearing as a woman impersonating a giant vagina can be. She achieves this simply by pulling her red dress over her head. The description here possibly does match the effect.

If Woman Who Wank tours anywhere near you, I suggest you pack up the feelings discomfort over the show’s title, chuck them out of the window and go and be entertained in a way you never thought possible.

And this is stunning show will now finally be in Lancashire (at Ham & Jam, Preston) on July 15, 2016. Time approx 9.10pm. And all for free.
